The events of 9/11, 2001 have contributed in damaging the sense of security that people felt while traveling in planes. Nevertheless, with intensive security measures at airports and inside the airplanes, and rapid technological advancements, airline travel is pretty safe and there are very few plane crashes now-a-days.
