American Airlines
Alaska AirlinesThe foundation stone for Alaska Airlines was laid in 1932. At this time Mac McGee had started ..... American Airlines was formed from the consolidation of numerous companies way back in 1929. With the formation of The Aviation Corporation, the process of consolidating young aviation companies, like Robertson Aviation Corporation, was initiated. In the year 1930, The Aviation Corporation combined all their airline subsidiaries into a single force called American Airways, Inc. Later in 1934, American Airways was rechristened American Airlines, Inc.
However, this little lesson in history cannot be complete without the mention of Charles Lindberg. April 15th, 1926, has found a place in the history of American Travel Industry and therefore can never be forgotten. A young aviator by the name of Charles A. Lindbergh took off from Chicago for St. Louis city on his DH-4 biplane with a mail bag as luggage. At this time, Charles was the chief pilot in the Robertson Aircraft Corporation, based in Missouri. Robertson Aircraft Corporation was the second aviation company to have been awarded the U.S. airmail contract.
There is no doubt that American Airlines' past has been glorious. It's also no surprise that American Airlines has an equally shining reputation today as well. In May 2002, American Airlines was named by Diversity Inc.com, as the 15th Top 50 Companies in their yearly round-up. What's more credible is that American Airlines was the only Airlines Company to make it to this list.

The announcement brought to end a four year long process of work on the largest projects ever undertaken by a since carrier in the world!
Another endeavor undertaken by American Airlines is to make popular the availability of tickets over the Internet. As a leading step in this direction, American Airlines announced its unique EveryFare program, on September 25, 2002. Selling tickets online has also been viewed as a cost effective measure from American Airlines point of view. American gets to save large amounts in distribution costs.
With EveryFare, American Airlines has empowered the regular travel agents in American and Canada with the option of being able to sell the extremely low priced online fares, which were offered only through the Airline's official website, earlier.
